Over this semester, I have learned a lot about writing and how we can improve it. It might not be as simple as people might think, there is a lot to writing. We learn from step by step, starting from a sentence to an entire essay. It helps us in our everyday life as it allows us to express ourselves and share our opinions. Writing is like a living organism that grows depending on how we feed and nurture it. If we keep working on it, it will be much stronger. We can decide on how well it is by looking at how it survives in the real world, which I am referring to our writing projects as we progress. I have mostly struggled with introductions and but once I figure it out and start writing, It’s much easier because once you start to get the main idea and focus of your writing, all different thoughts and ideas come to you and give us plenty to write about. To make our essay or any writing more reliable and interesting, we need to add different resources to come up with a solid claim with proof. An essay for it to be well developed, you need to write a perfect thesis statement, which is a theory that is put forward as a premise to be maintained or proved. A thesis statement usually appears at the end of the introduction and offers a concise summary of the research paper. We need to be well aware of our grammatical errors because it might put a bad impression on your essay.

I think of Writing as a Living Organism that we nurture to grow up throughout our life. There is a lot to writing itself. We learn from step by step, Starting from a sentence to an entire essay. Writing helps us in our everyday life, it allows us to share our opinions. As I mentioned in the beginning, Writing is like a livning organism which grows the more and better you feed and take care of it. If you keep working on it, it will be much healthier and stronger. We can decide on how well it is by observing how it would survive in real world, Which Im referring to our writing projects as we progress furthere. We can use all types of different resources to put a value in our work and it can be more efficient. Evidences can be used to support the claims we make in our essays.

The first essay we were told to work on in our first semester was the source based essay. At first I thought that it would be difficult, but our professor allowed us to use any topic of our choice. Usually, for me, when I get a topic that I am not interested in, it is really hard to write about and use sources. But this oppurtunity allowed me to write about the topic that I am comfortable with, Which was about “Emojis”(Essay can be found on the menu tab) All i need to start with my essay is an introduction and the key points of my essay from which I can easily move on. Because once we start writing, a train of thoughts runs through our mind from where we gather ideas. At first, when I worked on the source based essay I realized that how we can get soo many points for one topic that I could not even get in my essay an I wanted to use them for my next paper”Inquiry based Essay”.

We learned how to correctly cite sources, The MLA format which is realy important. I was introduced to CunyOnesearch and CCNY Library Database, which helped a lot as it allows to search any topic we are interested in and it would provide trustworthy and scholarly articles with authors who wrote it. As to improving our writing, We also learned how to use certain rhetorical elementsm such as, Audience,  stance,  Medium, Purpose and more. It enabled us to focus on the main points of our essay like, who are the audience that our essay is focused on? What is the tone of our essay? What medium did we used to deliver our writing? and but not the last,  What is the purpose of our essay?. These choices allow us to write a well developed essay which would have a meaning and would be thorough.

At last, we put all our research together and chose two genres where we composed our work and deliver it through Mediums we chose (Article, Magazines, Poem, Art) All of our knowledge that we learned helped us throughout our projects.

I have chose to write this theory of writing as an essay where I can convey my message about how I improved on my witing. I have learned the purpose of writing and how its important to us.   It is not only just useful for our academics but also outside of it too. As we can use can use if for different workd and resumes that we might have to write in future.
